Project Sign Off and Initial Research for : Retro / Vintage Vinyl record cover
Here is my project that I will carry out this term and I will design 4-6 outfits.
Minju's project - Vinyl records
The inspiration for my major project is from Retro/Vintage Vinyl Record covers and special edition vinyl. Moreover, the collection will be targeting women aged 18-20. After research my initial ideas like LP covers and special edition vinyl, I searched for the fashion collection inspired by retro.
This collection hearkened back to the 1940s to '70s with wearing an army, clad in synthetically kitsch multi-pastel furry baker-boy hats, coats, and skirts; brilliant clashing psychedelic-print tunics and flares; glittery jewels; and big-shouldered knit sweaters and skirts. The reasons why I looked at Miu Miu's collection are that Miu Miu's age targeting is also young ladies and the concept is quite similar that I have thought to my project. I think these designs will be great inspirations for my project in terms of the concept, patterns, and colors related to retro.
For my major project, I would like to design those by approaching the part of retro kitschy and lively rather than hip hop and street fashion style using various colors and patterns. Furthermore, I reckon that I need to study more about the retro looks more and deeply. However, I am excited to start my major project!
