Set project - Material research

Obviously, I did material research for this project. Every single time doing material research always challenges me because there are tones of kinds of fabrics and materials. For an easy process to find proper materials for each design, I decided to use a fabric selling website for this research.

1. Flower hat jelly

For this design, I would like to use see-through fabric like mesh on the blue stripe parts and frill details on the knicker.

tulle(polyester 100%)

So, I found this fabric for the base of the bra and knicker's material.

and choose this one for the frill details on the knicker.

Neoprene;Scuba, Double-faced (ponte;interlock) Jersey (Polyester(65%), Viscose Rayon(25%), PU (Polyurethane)(10%))

I found this for the orange stripes and the reason why I choose thick and neoprene is that I would like to express the round shape as the flower hat jelly's head.

Furthermore, I could not find the materials for the tentacle details on the neckline and underline because I don't have a specific idea for these materials.

2. Leafy sea dragon

Net mesh (polyester 100%)

Guipure Lace (Polyester(80%), Metallic(20%))

I supposed to find leafy shaped lace, but it is really hard to find, so I alternated this one, for now, to show how it looks alike.

Organza (polyester 100%)

3. Lionfish

For this design, it was pretty hard to find fabrics that have exactly the same pattern as the design. 

Tulle (polyester 90%, polyurethane 5%)

Satin, Crepe (Polyester(100%))

Tricot Mesh (Polyester(100%))

Tricot Mesh (Polyester(100%))

Eventually, I found those tricot meshes in order to use them as mixing together.

4. Christmas tree worm

I found this for the part of embroidery and

Single Jersey, Tricot Mesh (Polyester(94%), PU (Polyurethane)(6%))

this for spiral lace pattern section.

cotton lace trim (cotton 100%)

I only found this from another website because they don't have subsidiary materials.

tulle(polyester 100%)

This is for fill details on the underline of bra and the waistband of knicker.

I always suffered difficulties to find the appropriate material for the project on Online because there are limitations to look at the details and textures. I realized that I should go to the fabric market and study more about the fabrics during the three-months breaks.
